Stable housing is the foundation for long-term success. City Living NY helps young adults aging out of foster care find, secure, and maintain safe, affordable housing. We also provide furniture and household essentials that help turn an empty apartment into a comfortable home.
Alumni Program

Overview
City Living NY’s Alumni Program is for participants who have completed our core program. By then, we have helped them develop the skills to manage rent and other expenses, expand their support networks, and take steps toward achieving personal goals. Alumni may need less hands-on help as they become more independent, but they can remain connected to City Living NY. There is no “second aging out” of our community.
Program Details
Success in adulthood is rarely a straight line. When an alumnus faces a setback—such as job loss, overdue rent, or a parenting challenge—they can return to City Living NY for guidance and support during the crisis. In addition, the Alumni Program offers workshops, excursions, and social gatherings where participants can learn, reconnect with one another, and maintain ties to City Living NY.
Peer Mentoring: Many alumni want to share what they have learned with young people now transitioning from foster care. Our Peer Mentoring Program pairs alumni with participants in the core program so they can offer encouragement and practical insight grounded in their own experiences.
Alumni Advisory Board: Alumni can also join our Alumni Advisory Board, where they advise City Living NY on programming and plan workshops, community service activities, and other events. Their input helps ensure that participants’ perspectives continue to shape our work.

Education Support
Education can open doors to stable careers and greater independence. We help participants explore academic programs, apply for financial aid, and find tutoring and other resources. From the first application through graduation, we offer practical support and encouragement.
